Udaipur - Performances at the Mewar Festival During 'Gangaur'- 2013

Each year in spring coinciding with the Gangaur celebration dedicated to Lord Shiva's consort, Gauri, the Rajasthan Tourism Board sponsors the Mewar Performing Arts Festival in Udaipur. Dancers and musicians from all across Rajasthan come to present at this three day event. Here are two impressive video clips from the festival this year.

The short video clips below are from an afternoon with members of the Sayari Roots of Gypsy performing art group in Udaipur. Sayari and her husband Sheru are from the Sapera gypsy tribe of Rajasthan. Dancing and singing is a way of life for them. Sayari and her group work with international choreographers and travel the world sharing their spectacular dance tradition. Here we see Sayari's  seven year old daughter and ten year old son being trained.
